Born and raised in North Yorkshire, Josh has always had a deep connection to farming and rural life.
After studying Agriculture at Harper Adams University, he began his career working with several leading consultancy firms where he qualified as a Farm Consultant, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of farming systems and business types.
In founding Thomson Rural, Josh set out to create a consultancy that blends traditional farming values with a forward-thinking approach. He understands that while agriculture is rooted in heritage, the future of farming depends on innovation, adaptability, and sound, independent advice.
As Director and a Farm Consultant, Josh works closely with farmers and landowners across the region, offering support in areas such as business strategy, grant funding, compliance, and diversification. He also holds FACTS and BASIS Soil and Water qualifications, further strengthening his ability to deliver trusted, informed advice on nutrient management and sustainable land use.
